Episode 67: Meet Tristan

Once upon a time we held a contest. If you liked us on Facebook you were entered in the drawing, and if we drew your name from the hat you would win the opportunity to eat with us. “The Contest”, as it came to be known, was one of the first ideas we came up with to help popularize 88 Nights. People liked us. We held the drawing. Tristan Loughlin won. That was on Halloween 2011.

Fast forward many months later, and we finally worked out the logistics of having Tristan eat with us. There were only a couple of problems. In the time since Tristan won, we had already been joined by guests Eric, Stefanie, and Keith (twice). Also, Tristan showed up on the night we had to eat burrito chicharron which was fatty and foul. It really makes you wonder what he really won. In fact, the only clear winner is Cinco de Mayo who sold five disgusting burritos instead of just four.

Tonight’s menu: the number 67 – burrito chicharron.

And We Have a Winner!

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a contest winner! Devin reached into the sorting hat and drew out the name of…

Tristan Loughlin!

Tristan is a close friend and former bandmate of mine, currently a resident of Salt Lake City, UT, and will be traveling down to LA soon to join us for his victory meal.

Here are some “fun” facts about the contest that you are likely not interested in:

  • 77 people entered by liking us on facebook.
  • 28 people entered by following us on twitter.
  • 15 of those twitter followers tweeted about us for an additional entry.
  • We had 120 total slips of paper in the sorting hat.
  • Tristan had one entry; he was facebook like #62.

So congratulations to Tristan for beating the odds. And thank you to everyone else who liked, followed, or tweeted about us. Feel free to continue doing those things, and watch for Tristan showing up in a future episode.

A Brief Reminder About the Contest

With our contest deadline looming just around the corner, we thought it would be a good time to issue a reminder. Mostly, we just want you to enter if you haven’t already, but there are a few other things worth mentioning. They are covered in the video, but here is a recap.

  1. Enter by following us on twitter, tweeting about us, or liking us on facebook.
  2. When you like us on facebook, make sure you are clicking the like button at the top of our page. The video has a nice graphic highlighting the right button. Otherwise, we are unable to track your entry.
  3. The entry deadline is officially October 31, 2011, and we will probably do the drawing sometime after midnight. If you are entered before midnight you are good to go. If you enter after midnight… you still might be good to go.
So don’t delay. Act now. Supplies are running out. Happy Halloween, and good luck.

The “Making Dreams Come True” Contest

Do you like free Mexican food? Do you enjoy watching episodes of 88 Nights and wonder what happens that DOESN’T make it into the short edited episodes? Then you should enter this contest to win a free meal with us.

There are three ways to enter:
  1. like us on facebook,
  2. follow @88cinco on twitter, or
  3. tweet about us to all of your followers using the hashtag #88nights, like so.

You can enter once, twice, or three times a lady, depending on how high you want your chances to be and how much time you have. The more people you send it out to and get watching, the better.

We were going to have our lawyer write up a big legal agreement, but he was too busy overbilling his other clients to talk to us (just kidding, all you attorneys out there). So, here are all the legal details.

  1. If you follow the instructions, you’ll be entered. If you’d already followed instructions before there was even a contest, you’re already entered.
  2. The drawing really will be random.
  3. Airfare, gas money, busfare… none of that stuff is included. You have to get here on your own. If we had t-shirts, we’d give you one, but we don’t so….
  4. You don’t get to choose your meal. We will try to work with you to pick a night that works for you (even out of staters), but you don’t get to know what the meal is. You’ll just eat what the rest of us are eating. (You may also drink a Jarritos if you want.)
  5. If your mind is blown because the meal is so delicious, we are not responsible. We are also not responsible if it gives you the squirts.
  6. Last, but not least, we cannot even guarantee a fun time. The 5 of us may just sit around, eat the meal, and quietly leave, bored out of our minds. We’re pretty sure it will be fun, but no guarantees can be made.

OK. That’s it. Now go tell everyone about 88nights.com!!!!
